2.With a father from Kenya and a mother from Kansas, President Obama was born in Hawaii on August 4, 1961. He was raised with help from his grandfather, who served in Patton's army, and his grandmother, who worked her way up from the secretarial pool to middle management at a bank.
After working his way through college with the help of scholarships and student loans, President Obama moved to Chicago, where he worked with a group of churches to help rebuild communities devastated by the closure of local steel plants.
He went on to attend law school, where he became the first African—American president of the Harvard Law Review. Upon graduation, he returned to Chicago to help lead a voter registration drive, teach constitutional law at the University of Chicago, and remain active in his community.

Jasmine's Pastor

Jasmine:
1. Pastor Larry Stockstill was called into the ministry at the age of 16 and immediately responded to that call. After graduating in 1971 from Baker High School in Baker, Louisiana, he enrolled in Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma, graduating in 1975 with a degree in theological and historical studies. Upon graduation, Stockstill continued at ORU as associate chaplain until 1976. At that time he and his wife, Melanie, moved to West Africa to serve as missionaries in Nigeria and Ghana. In 1978 they returned to Louisiana, where Stockstill joined the pastoral staff of Bethany World Prayer Center, the church his father, Roy, had founded in 1963.In addition to his role of senior pastor, Stockstill is president of Heartbeat of Louisiana, a coalition of pro-life ministers. He also serves on the board of directors for Church Growth International in Seoul, Korea. Stockstill also hosts a local television program called Lifeline with Larry Stockstill. In addition, from 1998 to 2004, Stockstill led a weekly Bible study at the Governor’s Mansion for Governor Mike Foster of Louisiana and his staff.

2. Pastor Larry is important to me because he teaches me the Word of God. He is always serving and helping others. He is my pastor, and has been since I was born. He makes learning God's word easy to understand and does not complicate things. I've learned a lot from him throughout the years.

1. My pastor, Bro. Larry, is great! He is married to Neva, and they have two kids. He has been a pastor to my church for 4 or 5 years. He enjoys quoting Jonathan Edwards. He even preached Edwards's sermon, "Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God."
2. He is important to me because he is a spiritual leader to me. He helped provide an accountability partner for me. He is also very dedicated to serving others and evangelizing in our community.

1. Bobby Jindal was sworn in as Governor of Louisiana on January 14, 2008.
He was elected Governor of Louisiana on October 20, 2007.

2. Supriya Jindal is Bobby's wife.Supriya and Bobby have three young children – ages 7, 5 and 2 – and in their free time they enjoy going to the zoo and festivals around the state.

3. Supriya Jindal became First Lady of Louisiana when her husband, then Congressman Bobby Jindal was sworn in as Governor of Louisiana on January 14, 2008. Mrs. Jindal currently serves as the youngest first lady in the nation and is the only First Spouse in the country that holds a degree in engineering.

Jasmine: Ms. Melancon always threw parties for us in world history! We were her first class and she let us know how special we were by: teaching with powerpoint, taking us on fieldtrips, and giving us food and parties!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
